After The Jump
Taylor
Swift is on a mission
to prevent internet trolls and smut peddlers from using her name to sell XXX
material online.
CNN reports
that the singer has just bought the domain names Taylorswift.porn
and TaylorSwift.adult. This comes after a 2011 decision by Internet
Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers to expand top-level
domains, or gTLDs, such as .com and .net.
The number
of gTLDs have increased from 22 to to over 547. Companies and
anyone else who don't want their brand associated with .porn, .adult or .suck
have a small window that lasts until June 1st to grab the domains before they
hit the open market.
"It's
first to the buzzer [then]," said Stuart Lawley, CEO of ICM
Registry, which operates the .porn and .adult top-level domains.
Microsoft has moved quickly and snapped
up Office.porn and Office.adult.
One month ago
Swift also purchased ITaughtTaylorSwiftHowToGiveHead.com.
