The FBI had spent nearly a decade investigating one of the men who
attempted to attack an event featuring cartoons of the Muslim prophet
Muhammad, it was revealed Monday as investigators attempted to determine
whether the attack was directed by any overseas terror groups.
That suspect, identified by authorities as Elton Simpson, was killed
by police officers in the Dallas suburb of Garland, Texas Sunday evening
after shooting a school district security guard in the leg outside a
center where a cartoon contest was being held. Simpson's fellow attacker
and roommate, identified as Nadir Soofi, was also killed.

Court reserves judgment on Fani-Kayode’s money-laundering case for June 18
A Federal High Court in Lagos has reserved judgment in the trial of a
former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, who is charged with money
laundering, for June 18, 2015.
The judgment date was fixed by
Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia on Monday following the adoption of final
written addresses and summary arguments by lawyers to the Economic and
Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, and the accused person.

Orekoyas reveal kidnappers were paid N2.5m ransom
Mrs Adebisi Orekoya, mother of the recently kidnapped children from
Lagos state, over the weekend said the family paid a ransom of N2.5
million to the kidnappers to effect the release of the abducted kids.
She
said this while recounting her ordeal prior to a group of working
mothers in Lagos at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, LCCI,
Conference and Exhibition Centre, in Alausa.
The event was meant
to sensitise and create awareness on child kidnapping in the country.
The event was organised by Background Check International, BCI, with the
theme ‘Averting the rising spate of child kidnapping in Nigeria’.

Buhari, to stop public servants in his administration from going abroad
to receive medical attention.

The All Progressives Congress, APC, has received fresh knocks over
the alleged attack on the party’s governorship candidate in the April 11
election, Barr. Okey Ezea, by the party’s national vice chairman in the

Ezea had over the weekend alleged that

Rio Ferdinand's wife Rebecca Ellison dies from cancer
The wife of former Manchester United and England captain Rio Ferdinand has died from cancer.
The
QPR defender, 36, released a statement saying his "wonderful wife and
soul mate" Rebecca Ellison had "passed away peacefully" at a London
hospital.
Ms Ellison, 34, who married Ferdinand in 2009, had breast cancer.
She leaves behind three children, Lorenz, nine, Tate, six, and four-year-old Tia.
In a statement, Ferdinand said she died on Friday night.

Early morning inferno burns six persons to death in Plateau
No fewer than six persons have lost their lives in a fire incident which razed down a storey-building in Jos, Plateau State. The incident happened in the wee hours of Saturday. The fire was said to have started around 2 am immediately after electricity was restored. The victims are 26-year old Habiba Ahmed, her three children,
Dalhatu, aged 6, Maryam 4 and one-year-old Fawaz. Others are Habiba’s
sister, Rukayat 12 and a maid, named Maryam aged 13. The victims were said to have died of suffocation as they could not escape from the raging inferno.

Chief Imam of Abuja National Mosque is dead
The Chief Imam of Abuja National Mosque, Sheikh Musa Muhammad has passed on. The news of his death was conveyed in a release issued in Ilorin on Saturday and signed by the Secretary General, Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Professor Isha’aq Oloyede. Oloyede said the late chief Imam’s funeral rites would hold at the National mosque Abuja by 10am on Sunday (today). The statement said Sheikh Musa Muhammad died after a brief illness.
