Ekiti: PDP accuses APC of planning to tamper with April 11 ballot papers

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ekiti State, has alleged that the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the state has concluded to tamper with the ballot papers used during the April 11 state House of Assembly election. In the light of this, PDP State Chairman, Chief Idowu Faleye, said that the party had written a letter to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Resident Electoral Officer (REC) in the state, Mr Sam Olumekun, to look into the matter.
Faleye alleged in a statement in Ado Ekiti yesterday that the APC was working in conjunction with some INEC personnel to re-thump print some ballot papers containing PDP votes with a view to voiding them.
The PDP chairman said: “This is not a new strategy of the opposition party because they did the same thing immediately after the 2007 election, which was then termed as voting after voting by the PDP, so this time around, we shall resist these undemocratic tendencies.”
According to him, APC has never been happy with Ekiti people since its governorship candidate, Dr Kayode Fayemi, was defeated by Governor Ayodele Fayose in the June 21, 2014 election in the state.
“From their activities since then, it has been one day one trouble being orchestrated by their leadership. The APC lawmakers’ activities in recent time are that of the grand plans to destabilise Ekiti State as long as Governor Fayose is in charge”. Faleye also advised the APC lawmakers to desist from causing chaos and breach of peace, urging them to cooperate with the governor for the betterment of the state and peace and progress of the people.
