No fewer than 5 passengers in a cab on Sunday were reportedly killed 
as a pedestrian bridge under construction on Sheik Jafar road, Karshen 
Waya by Gidan mai in Kano State suddenly caved in on the moving taxi.
The
 pedestrian bridge which is currently under construction was designed to
 checkmate the high rate of accident involving pedestrian at the densely
 populated area.
According to sources, the pedestrian bridge 
collapsed on the moving taxi at about 5.00 pm and it is believed that 
all five passengers including the driver were killed. It was further gathered that the occupants of the cab were trapped, and 
it will take the assistance of a crane to remove the trapped persons 
from the squeezed vehicle. Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the State Police Command, 
ASP Magaji Musa Majia stated that rescue effort was on-going to free the
 trapped passengers.
