Niger State Governor-elect To Be Sworn In By His Mother-in-law


Niger State governor–elect, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello of the All Progressives Congress (APC), will, on May 29, be sworn in by his mother-in-law who is the state’s Chief Judge, Justice Fati Abubakar.

Bello, a son of a former military governor of old Kano State and businessman, Colonel Sani Bello (rtd) is married to Dr (Mrs) Aminat Sani Bello, who is a daughter of Justice Abubakar and her husband, a former Military Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar.
According to Section 185. (1) Of the 1999 Constitution, the chief judge of a state is first in the order of judicial officers qualified to administer the oath of office on governors.
Bello won the April 11 governorship election in Niger State after he garnered 593,702 votes against the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Umar Nasko with 239,772 votes.
