Cristiano Ronaldo has become the first player in the history of Spanish football, to score 50 goals in five consecutive seasons. The
Portuguese captain scored the last goal, as Real Madrid defeated Malaga
3-1 on Saturday, to move within one point of rivals Barcelona.
Ronaldo
had earlier missed the opportunity to break the record, after he missed a
second-half penalty, but he was able to add to the two assists he had
provided in the game with a goal of his own.
It also means the 30-year-old has now scored in five successive La Liga games, netting nine goals. Ronaldo, who has played 45 matches this term, arrived at the Santiago
Bernabeu in 2009 for a then world record transfer fee of £80m.
