Speaker, Tambuwal, wins Sokoto governorship poll

Aminu Tambuwal, who is the current speaker of the House of Representatives, has been declared winner of the Sokoto State governorship election, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.
According to results released by the Independent National Electoral Commission, quoted by NAN, Mr. Tambuwal scored 647,609 votes to beat his major rival and former political benefactor, Abdallah Wali, who polled 269,074 votes.
Mr. Tambuwal contested on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, while Mr. Wali represented the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
