‘We Were Forced To Confess To Cynthia Osokogwu’s Murder’


One of the men accused of the murder of Cynthia Osokogwu, a 25year -old post-graduate student of the Nassarawa State University, Olisaeloka Chidera-Ezike yesterday told a Lagos High Court sitting at Igbosere that he was forced to confess to the crime.

Chidera-Ezike, who is the second defendant in the trial also told the court that he has never met late Osokogwu and that he only heard about her from his uncle Okwumo Nwabufo, who is the first defendant.

The late Osokogu was murdered on the 22nd of July, 2012 in Lagos by men she met and became friends with on popular social media platform, Facebook.


Those accused of the crime are Okwumo Nwabufo 34; Olisaeloka Ezike, 24; Orji Osita, 33; and Ezike Nonso, 25. They were arraigned before the court for conspiracy and murder by the Lagos State government.

At the resumed hearing of the matter on Wednesday, Chidera-Ezike, while being cross examined by the state Attorney General, Ade Ipaye, claimed that his uncle talks about the deceased a lot and that he has plans of bring her home as a wife.

The defendant also told the court that he has never seen the deceased with the first defendant and that he did not purchase the flight ticket for Cynthia to come to Lagos as stated in his statement to the police.
